I saw this post recently on Facebook... don't know if it's true or not but definitely something to think about.

DIY Baby Shower Invitations for Under $3

It cost me next to nothing to make these baby shower invitations for 15 guests. Most of the materials were purchased years ago when my sister and i went through a scrapbooking phase, so we had tons of stock paper and such just sitting there doing nothing.

Materials: (Already Had Laying Around)
- Stock Paper $12.99 from Winners
- Tracing Pad Paper $8 from Walmart
- Border Hole-Punch $25 from Michaels
- Letter-sized Envelopes $1 from Dollarama
- Staples and Stapler

Materials: (Purchased for This DIY Project)
- Blue Ribbon $2.50 from Walmart

I had trolled Pinterest for ideas of baby shower invitations and settled on the rectangle letter-size invites... which seems to be the trend for this year for weddings and events. The wording i had used were quite simple and to the point, the mother’s name, the baby’s gender, when and where, and the registry number.

I cut 10 pieces of tracing paper to 8x11 to be able to fit in the printer, (which my sister printed out for me) then to cut it to 9x4, which made 2 pieces. I had also cut the scrapbook stock paper to 9x4, which made 3 pieces. Everything fits!

Next i wanted to make the invitation have a little pretty feel to it so i bordered one side of the already cut tracing paper to have a peek-a-boo effect with the scrapbook stock paper (used a background). Then I stapled (YES, stapled!) a blue ribbon of 20cm together with the tracing paper and background paper, and made the ribbon into a cute little bow in the corner... and then i’m finished! I just had to make the next 14 invitations. Hahahaha.

Mommy-to-be LOVED it when i emailed her a photo of the finished project. I loved the fact that all the invitations were the same minus the background paper which was an assorted scrapbook stock paper but all blues and greens.

Now I just have to give them out. :-)

I had also made the baby shower favours with the same blue ribbon used for the invitations. That was another $2.50, plus the spice jar from Dollarama was $1.25 a pair and everything else i had laying around. All and all, they cost under $15 to make for 15 guests. Not bad eh.

February 2013

February 10th
Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Chúc mừng năm mới! 恭禧發財! I hope that everyone had an amazing 2012 and now it's time to move on to 2013, the Year of the Snake!
CNY OOTD:

Dress: I really don't remember where i brought this dress from.
P.S: THE WALKING DEAD is back on tonight! Whooooo!
February 14th
I hope everyone enjoyed the “day-of-love” today and that your day is filled with fluttering hearts. Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday this year like most of the population, i had to work.
At work, i decided to give my customers a little Valentine’s Day discount. (I run and manage a Vietnamese restaurant FYI.) Surprisingly many couples decided to have Vietnamese for their Valentine’s dinner, which is good business for us. I just wished i was more prepared for it, like having chocolate hearts to give out instead of the guava candy we normally give out. Maybe i’ll have something prepared for St. Patrick’s Day... since i’m the boss and all, i need to start coming up with these things eh.
Back to the day of hugs and kisses, So as i was sleeping, i got a knock on the door... guess what they were, flowers hand delivered by him! He wanted to stop by to give me a bouquet of my favorite flowers before he went to work. What a sweet surprise!
This year, we had decided to spend Valentine’s Day at home since it was on a weekday and we didn’t have that much time to get ready coming home straight from work, plus i’m sure that every restaurant is booked solid and it would probably be hard for us to get a table.
When we both got off work, we headed to Safeway to purchase the last few missing ingredients for our homemade Valentine’s Day dinner.
What was on the menu:
- Homemade Pizza with Truffle Oil Mushrooms, Tomato, Prosciutto, Mozzarella and Arugula
- Crab & Shrimp Salad with Candied Salmon
- Pulled Pork on Ginger-Infused Pasta Noodles
- Apple Juice with Real Strawberries Slices
It’s PRESENT TIME! What i got from him this Valentine’s Day: a skull pattern shirt from Underground, some yummy smelling candles from Bath & Body Works, a Hello Kitty stuffed puff ball, Essie nail polish in Set in Stones... oh and the flowers. :-)
Girls aren’t really supposed to get present for the guys on Valentine’s Day right? What do we get them? Chocolates and a stuffed bear? Well i made him a card... which i stole the idea from Pinterest/9Gag.
The dog also had her version of a Valentine’s dinner... her favorite Cesar entree... on a cute green flower plate too. Fancy eh.
February 15th
Today is Paul’s niece, Evonne’s 15th birthday dinner at Regency Palace in Chinatown. Since LOTS of strawberries left over from Valentine’s Day, I decided to make her some chocolate-covered strawberries with some round sprinkles. These round sprinkles were like tiny bouncing balls that bounced everywhere. So messy. Hahahaha. Well i hope she likes them.

Possible birthday dress?
So i've decided to celebrate my 26th birthday with dinner at my favorite sushi restaurant, Red Ember (609 14 Street NW) with my favorite people. Then we headed to Black Betty for night of music and dancing. Thank-you everyone for coming and the wonderful gifts. <3
Birthday OOTD with some sock bun curls. Lazy way to have some curls... idea from Pinterest of course
